I kind of left everyone hanging about Bea’s numbers last week but with Thanksgiving and the weekly crazy – I haven’t been able to update the blog.
So, as you all know, Bea’s EBV number has been our major source of concern over the last few months. The number has gone up, we have lowered her immunosuppressants to wake her body up to fight it, and it has been a constant balance. Her number has been going up and we were supposed to get her latest results back on Thanksgiving. Jordan and I decided that we wouldnt open the results for fear that the news would ruin our Thanksgiving.
Well, I couldn’t sleep Wednesday night just thinking about it and at 6am Thanksgiving morning the results popped into my email. I looked over to Jordan, he was snoozing, so I decided to sneak a peek and if they were bad – I just wouldn’t share until Friday (who am I kidding).
I opened the results and they were MORE than what we had hoped. The lowest EBV has been is around 2,000 and it had climbed upwards to 40,000.
On Thanksgiving, it had dropped to 2,400.
I rubbed my eyes thinking I had just imagined this moment but sure enough – we were truly going to have our most blessed Thanksgiving yet!!!!!
SO – since then, Bea has broken out in a complete rash all over her body (of course – why wouldn’t she?) and we found out she is allergic to one of her medications. Because of that, we have to substitute that medication with a different one that we can only give her through an IV drip at the hospital once a month. I will be venturing there tomorrow for our first one.
Of course, it is ALWAYS something but we are just SO thrilled the EBV is going down (and will hopefully continue to stay down).
More updates next week 🙂 Below are some highlights from Thanksgiving!
