I have so many updates to give but am going to try to space them out to not overload. Today I’ll highlight the LIVERversary day and the rest of the week wil be dedicated to family vaca and my sister’s wedding! AH! Take me back!
SO – Bea’s LIVERversary was this past Thursday and it just seemed so surreal. To think of all we’ve been through over the last year and we finally hit the biggest milestone yet – was such a relief!
We started the day with lab results from Monday night and her EBV came back THE LOWEST IT HAS BEEN IN OVER 6 MONTHS! Like WHAT?! I felt like I was starting the day off in the BEST imaginable way 🙂 Let’s hope that EBV is finally taking the hint!
THEN – I went outside and had the most incredible surprise. #BEASTRONG balloons across my driveway, flowers, and mini cupcakes in honor of 7/7. I truly have such thoughtful friends.
Jordan, Bea and I then took our little party to one of our favorite spots – Sleepy Bee for breakfast where we ran into the CEO of Children’s Hospital and he gave a personal congratulations to Miss Bea on her accomplishments. It all happened too perfectly.
The rest of the day was just full of happiness! We delivered the below #BEASTRONG cookies to different departments of the hospital to thank everyone for their help over the last year. We started out at the lab where – with your help- we are donating the microscope. We absolutely LOVE these people and they work so hard. They didn’t really know we were coming and they all had their BEAstrong buttons on – made me so happy.
The lead doctor of the lab made a great point – these people work day in and out looking at organs and cells and never really get to meet the patients they are effecting or studying. They were so delighted to see Bea and we are hoping to make an annual trip with her to show them how their hard work is paying off 🙂
We then dropped more cookies off to the surgical team that performed Bea’s transplant. We are still very close with a lot of the doctors but it is always fun to see them! Dr Tiao was the lead surgeon in my surgery and is hands down one of my favorite people at CCHMC! He couldn’t believe how big Bea has become!
We dropped more cookies off to our friends, nurses and staff of A4N where Bea spent a ton of time and then dropped some off to Dr Campbell and her team!
My mom and I went to lunch afterwards at HPCC and as you can tell – Bea was having the best day ever.
After naps we had a little visitor 🙂 Such a funny gift from my sister because Bea is OBSESSED with Minions….
And then we took a couple of photos….
And then geared up for our charity ride at DEFINE in Oakley. DEFINE is owned by these 2 amazingly driven, throughtful, and just good people. These girls have been so supportive over the last year and they hosted TWO charity rides where all the profits and donations go straight to biliary atresia research at Cincinnati Childrens. The first ride was 7/7 at 7pm and it was AMAZING. Just so soulful and the perfect way to end our celebration day.
THE BEST PART?! They raised over $1,100 ! AH! THANK YOU to all who came and THANK YOU to DEFINE Oakley for helping us raise awareness and funds for such an important cause 🙂 You all are the BEST!
Overall, 7/7 was such a special day. We heard from so many friends and received so many thoughtful texts, messages, flowers, and little gifts (including bumble bee chocolate covered strawberries!!!)
THANK YOU and cheers to the NEXT biggest milestone – 7/7/17!
